TheBench™ Classic AFL Draft League Rules:

The following is the standard team structure and scoring rules for the “TheBench™ Classic, AFL Draft” League.

 

A Standard AFL Team consists:

  • 1 ruckman
  • 3 forwards
  • 3 midfielders
  • 1 tackler
  • 1 emergency/bench*

* If a given player in a team does not play for a given round, the bench player will take his place.  Players are replaced in order of Position priority which is customisable for custom Leagues.  The default replacement order is Forward1, Forward2, Forward3, Midfielder1, Midfielder2, Midfielder3, Ruckman, Tackler.

 

Scoring:

  • Ruckman: 1 point per hitout, 2 points per mark
  • Forward: 6 points per goal, 1 point per behind
  • Midfielder: 1 point per kick, 1 point per handball
  • Tackler: 5 points per tackle

TheBench™ Full Field Rules:

The following is the standard team structure and scoring rules for the “TheBench™ Full Field, AFL Draft” League.

 

This template lets you customise more positions on the field.  You can delete the positions you don’t want.

This League also has restrictions on player placement, that is Jonathan Brown, for example, can only be played as a full forward.

By default, trading and a finals series is enabled and you can make 4 changes to your squad throughout the season.

A team, played each round consists of 18 players as per the real game:

  • 4 Forwards, Half Forward, Full Forward
  • 5 Midfielders
  • 4 Defenders, Half Back, Full Back
  • Ruckman
  • 4 emergency/bench*

Scoring:

All positions score the same as follows:

score = handballs*3 + kicks*3 + marks*4 + hitouts*2 + tackles*4 + goals*6 + behinds + freesFor – freesAgainst

 

Custom Rules

You can start with any of the above templates and customise the heck out of your League:

  • Change the scoring rules for each position
  • Change the position and where they are shown on the field
  • Change restrictions on where certain players can play
  • Change the number on the bench

… it’s all up to you!
