Team and Squad Management

Team Selection

Team selection is simple. You need only place 9 players on the field (OR customisable in custom Leagues).

From the Coaches Box tab, to place a player from your Squad into your team you simply select a round and then drag the player from your squad, their position – couldn’t be more simple!

As described in the rules, a player recieved a different score depending on their selected position.

As described in the rules, your field will have three forwards, three midfielders, a tackler, a ruckman and player on the bench.

If you have added the Expert Pack option, you can choose a Smart Pick get the system to pick the most optimum team for you. This is based on the average performace of your squad members. The Expert Pack also lets you check out how your team will likely perform against your opposition.

To help the selection of your Team, the statistics of you Squad, and you opposition, is shown on the Coaches Box page.

Delisting

If a Squad Member is not performing, is injured or just falls out of fashion, a Coach may delist the Player.

The number of available delistings is dependent on the Competition, typically 2.

Once delisted, a new Player can be drafted.

For Draft style Competitions, if a Player becomes injured or retires and will not likely return for the rest of the season, a Competition Manager can flag the Player as having a Long Term Injury. A Player is this state can be freely delisted. It is up to the Competition Managers discression when to set this status.

Trading

For Draft style Competitions, Coaches may Trade a Player with another Club in their Competition.

Trading can occus at any time in the season up to the Last Trade Round which is set by the Competition Manager. Setting the Last Trade Round to be less than the last Round limits Coaches who are not eligibly for finals, trading their good players.

A Trade can involve any number of Clubs and Players. A Trade must always balance before it can be posted, ie. all Players traded with must be accepted by another Club.

All clubs involved in the trade must accept the Trade before it is filled. For the club proposing the Trade, acceptance is assumed. At anytime before the Trade has been filled, any club involved, may reject the Trade at which point the Trade is cancelled in full and removed from the site.

The process is simple, from the My Squad page:

  1. Click the Trade icon next to your own Player to Trade With
  2. Choose a Club to propose the Trade to
  3. Choose the Player in the propositioned Club, to Trade For.

I am a little bit confused about how the player selected on the ‘Bench’ scores.

Assuming that two players in my selected team do not play (e.g. a forward and a midfielder), how do you determine which player the bench player replaces and how is his score calculated?

In my previous ‘offline’ league, in the case of a selected forward and midfielder not playing, and my bench player kicks 1 Goal 1 behind (7 points) and collects 22 disposals, he would then contribute 22 points to the score.

      Hey Jason,

For custom Leagues you can choose the position priority order – the bench player will replace positions on the field in that order. For example, using the default field positions, the bench will first try to replace the forwards, then mids, then ruckman and finally the tackler. The score will be based on the position into which the bench player is rotated – if he moves into a forward position, then (using the default scoring rules – which you can customise also) he will score 6*goals x behinds.

      Cheers

      Ben
